Healthy foods - Saumya Aloysius

“An Apple A day keeps the Doctor away”, is a famous saying that we all have heard. This saying helps us clearly understand the importance of taking the right foods in order to maintain our health. Health is very important to lead a life without any hindrances.

Only when we have healthy foods we can live a healthy life. Kids should be fit enough to concentrate on our studies and excel both in academics and extracurricular activities. The first and foremost advice we have to give to our kids is eating food on time keeps them fresh throughout the day.

In today’s world, oily foods and junk foods are more welcomed by most of the people. But the truth is these kinds of foods are not all good for health and spoil our routine by provoking unnecessary illnesses over a period of time. Having known this it is our sole responsibility to guide our kids in inculcating the right food habits. We should closely watch their food habits and change their habits if they are not eating healthy foods.

Food is the source of our energy. Thus, choosing the right type of foods that contain the right amount vitamins and minerals is very important. We should regularly give highly nutritious food to our kids.

Drinking more water is also as important as eating healthy foods. Not only healthy food is significant, helping kids grow with a balanced diet is important. We should restrict them from junk foods and oily foods. We should advise kids not to overeat also. 

Growing kids with the right choice of foods right from childhood will help them lead a healthy and happy life.

Descipline - Saumya Aloysius

Discipline in student life is the art of obeying a certain set of rules that help us to live a life of the order. It is the conduct that respects the laws of the community one lives in. Without discipline, there is only chaos and unruliness. Discipline is observed in everything around us. Nature exhibits great discipline in its workings. All the planets rotate around the sun in their orbits without going off course. The sun has been rising in the east and setting in the west for millions of years and so is the case with every process of nature.
Schools provide the building blocks for a child’s life and it is extremely important to observe discipline in student life there. Inside classrooms, for education to be possible, it is essential for every student to be silent and focused on the subject being taught. In playgrounds, every sport comes with a set of rules which need to be followed for ensuring smooth and successful play. These rules mold students in working towards achieving their dreams.
Discipline in student life at home also plays an important role. Right from the start of the day when we have to get ourselves ready to begin the day, to the end of the day when timely dinner and early to bed are required, discipline is needed. It helps in the smooth functioning of our everyday life.
Discipline in student life plays a pivotal role in determining the success of a person. It is necessary that every child is taught discipline at school and at home so that they grow up into responsible members of the community.

Road safety - Saumya Aloysius

Road safety is a serious issue and it should be considered with strong efforts to curb road accidents and save lives. With the increasing road network, an increasing number of vehicles, increasing traffic mess and increasing vehicle speeds, it is very important.
Road accidents have become common — everyday media is filled with new road accidents — and fatalities are very high. It is estimated that around 1 million people die each year in road accidents. Pedestrians, cycle riders, bike riders, car and other vehicle users throng the roads daily for everyday chores that put their lives to risk.
Road safety refers to all efforts to prevent road accidents and protect road users from getting injured or killed. The key goal of road safety measures is to minimize the accidents of all kinds.
Traffic signs are the signs put up to give information and instructions to all road users for their and other’s safety. There are many types of signs for road safety on the roads such as prohibitory, warning, service, information, direction, electric lines, repair work, hospital, school, and so on. Signage also includes a welcome, expressway, freeway, route, street name, toll, road condition, speed limits and cultural signs.
The signals, manual or automated, are also used on the roads to control traffic and pedestrian movement for the safety of all.
All the road users’ need to be educated to follow all the safety rules, traffic signs and signals for their own safety and safety of other road users.
For our own safety and other’s safety, all road users need to be sensitized for following the road safety rules. In addition, efforts shall be made for safe road designs, road condition maintenance, safe driving skills, safe vehicle designs and safety gadgets in vehicles to prevent accidents.

Importance of health and fitness - Saumya Aloysius

Health of a person is defined as the state of being free from any illness and injury. Along with the physical condition, it also includes the mental and social well-being of the person. Fitness is the condition of being physically fit and healthy so that the person is able to tackle the demands of the surrounding environment.
For a successful, happy and peaceful life, health and fitness are very important. If a person is healthy and fit, he/she can live life to its fullest extent. Health and fitness just do not mean physically but also mentally and healthy fit. There are many benefits of maintaining the health and fitness of the body like it lowers the risk of diseases like heart attack, high BP, obesity, and stroke; increases the longevity of life, reduces stress, provides better quality of life and many others.
There are many ways to maintain your health and fitness. Certain activities should be followed daily like regular physical exercise. It can be a simple activity like climbing stairs instead of taking a lift or elevator, walking more rather than taking care to go to different places. It is important to eat proper and clean food at the right time. The food should also be rich in nutrition such as high in fiber, low in fat, high protein content and have more vitamins. A proper sleeping pattern is also important to maintain health and fitness.
For any of these activities, it is important to be self-motivated. The fitness activities should be a part of your daily routine. All this will not only maintain your health and fitness but also improve your lifestyle.
It is important to maintain the health and fitness of not just our physical self but our mental self as well, to have a happy and fulfilled life. The maintenance of these should be taught to children at a young age so that they are used to doing certain activities and are motivated to continue doing them as they grow up.

Let's protect public property - Saumya Aloysius


The property we use can be classified as public property and private property. Public property can be used by everyone in the society but private property belongs to only one person or to a number of people.

Today public property is being destroyed rapidly. Some people care only about their own property but, we all have the right to use public property without any obstruction and we must know to protect them also.

Schools, temples, hospitals, buses and trains can be identified as public property. When we use public property we should know how to use them without damaging them. In school, we have to protect our chairs, tables and other things in the classroom.

Public property belongs to us as well as to the next generation of people in our country. Therefore we should keep in mind to protect them.

Today we can see some elders and children destroy public property. If we destroy public property, the government will collect taxes from all of us to replace or repair this property. We must educate people about the importance of protecting public property. Elders should advise children to protect public property. It is our duty to protect public property like our own property for the next generation.

Environment Pollution - Saumya Aloysius

We should treat the environment of our earth as our mother. It also nurtures us. If the climate gets polluted then, how can we survive?
Earth provides us so many natural resources for our health and growth. But, as time is passing, we are becoming more selfish and keep on polluting our environment. We do not know that if our environment gets more polluted then, it will ultimately affect our health and future too. It will not be possible for us to survive on earth easily.
It is unnecessary to tell that environmental pollution has ruined and spread its toxic tentacles inside the basic needs of humans, i.e., water, food, air, and soil. It affects our inhaling, drinking, and eating. It also damages the health of animals along with humans.
Various things pollute the air like gaseous releases from motor vehicle ignitions and industries, burning fossil fuels inside the air, etc. The solid industrial waste, oil spills, plastic dumps, and city garbage is thrown into the water pollutes the river and oceans. Similarly, inorganic procedures of agriculture destroy the fertility of the soil.
As you know that water is used for drinking, the soil used for producing food, and the air is used for breathing, all of these three contaminated elements insert their pollutants inside the body of human and result in diseases.
The diseases that occur due to environmental pollution consist of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, lung cancer, skin cancer, lead poisoning, cardiovascular diseases and stroke, radiation augmented cancers, mercury poisoning, congenital disabilities, allergies, lung diseases owing to occupational exposure to numerous toxin and many more. The list is unending.
Our earth is moving on the way to an unhealthy future for every living being. So, we must become aware of the factors that pollute our environment and take some necessary steps to keep our future safe and healthy.

Save water - Saumya Aloysius

Water is a precious thing for us. We cannot even imagine our life on earth without water. Three-fourths of the earth’s surface is covered by water. Still many people on this earth face scarcity of water. This teaches us the necessity to save water on earth. Water is one of the most primary needs for mankind to live on this earth. 
We need water every single day. We not only use water to quench our thirst but also in different activities like producing electricity, cooking our food, washing ourselves and our clothes and utensils, etc. Farmers need water to cultivate crops. Like human beings plant also need crops to survive and grow as well. Thus it is very much clear that we don’t even imagine a single day on earth without using water.
Though there is a sufficient amount of water present on earth, there is only a very little percentage of drinkable water on earth. So we need to save water from being polluted.  We must learn how to save water in daily life. In our homes, we can save water from being wasted. We can use the shower in the bathroom as a shower bath takes less water than a normal bath. 
Again sometimes we don’t even pay any attention to the minor leakages of taps and pipes at our homes. But due to those leakages, a huge amount of water is being wasted on a daily basis.  On the other hand, we can think of rainwater harvesting. Rainwater can be used to bath, wash our clothes and utensils, etc. In many parts of our country and many other countries, people are not getting enough percentage of drinkable water on earth close at hand. But we are wasting water on a regular basis. It will become a matter of concern in the near future. Thus we should try to save water for our future.
